Encounter between Tiredness, Dust and Ebola at a Border Checkpoint of Northwestern Côte d’Ivoire

In March 2014 I undertook a cross-border journey from Manankoro (Mali) to Odienné (Côte d’Ivoire) during the early phase of the West African Ebola virus epidemic. This article analyses discourses about Ebola encountered during this journey. It explains that Ebola is a possible metaphor of state power in West Africa when its intervention becomes violent, arbitrary and insidious.
